What is a "Quilt Inn"? A Quilt Inn is a specially-designed retreat and workshop for groups of six to eight, which includes lodging and some meals. We especially like to do a "Quilt Inn" for a group that comes together. We are able to design the workshop to meet the specific skills and interests of the group. Your stay will be at Litco Farms Bed and Breakfast , also on the premises.
About our Instructor
Margaret Wolff's background includes being a Home Economist with 27 years as a teacher and school administrator at our local Vo-Tech High School. Heartworks operated as a weekend business until June 1997 when Margaret retired from school; we are now a full-time business.
Margaret, an award winning quilter, has been teaching quilting since 1989. She performs repair and resotration of vintage quilts, and designs and makes new quilts, as well as designing patterns and kits. Currently her quilts are hanging in Australia, England, Wales, Denmark, Japan, Ireland, and the American Embassy in Kenya, as well as in many states in the USA.
With the resurgence of fine quality cottons, outstanding color selections, hand-dyed fabric and hand painted batiks, Margaret has become fascinated with fabric manipulation and thread embellishment. She now designs "one of a kind" jackets and other wearables which make a real fashion statement.
The following three classes work well for a Quilt Inn:
- Pieced quilt with center medallion
- Applique with three dimensional flowers
- Textured jacket with ribbon work and thread embellishment
Our Quilt Inn plan has the group here for two days and two nights. Check-in is between 4PM and 6PM the first night. We are at Heartworks by 7PM for basic instruction and to select fabric for class which begins after breakfast the first day. We provide a simple lunch both days during the Quilt Inn. There are many nice restaurants in Cooperstown for dinner, and we will make suggestions, reservations and even tag along! Check out time is about 4PM at the end of the second full day.
The Quilt Inn cost is $225 per person, double occupancy, for a minimum of six and a maximum of nine Quilters and includes:
- Quilting instruction (both days and first evening)
- Room (double occupancy)
- Breakfast (both days)
- Lunch (both days)
